The Ashland City School District is rated on the Local Report Card (LRC) each year by the State of Ohio. The State of Ohio rates each school and district from lowest, Academic Emergency, to the highest rating of Excellent. We are excited to share our rating of Excellent on the LRC with our families and our community! This a great accomplishment for our district and is truly the fruit of the labor of our outstanding educators! We continue to focus on improving the academic performance of each child in our district. To that end, we have worked this fall to explore and implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The CCSS are highly rigorous and will raise the expectations of each child in our district. Our goal, as a district, will be that each student has a plan for their next step in life after graduating from Ashland High School. Our global job market continues to be extremely competitive and challenging. We believe that our teachers will continue to challenge and prepare our students for college or a post-secondary experience. We continue to rely on the Ashland County West Holmes Joint Vocational School to meet the needs of our students that prefer a career in the trades. Additionally, each year a group of our graduates decides to pursue the military after high school, and we applaud their commitment to preserving our freedom.

EXCELLENCE with Distinction was the recent 2010-2011 report card designation awarded to Crestview Local Schools. Crestview enjoys a reputation as a high-performing public school system nestled in the northern part of Richland and Ashland counties. The Crestview tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and the arts is based on collaboration between students, staff, administrators, parents and the community. Crestview Local has been rated Excellent for Four consecutive years. While Excellence is our goal it is not the end, we can and will always strive to better ourselves. Crestview Local considers student achievement its top priority. For its core subject areas, the district has adopted the Ohio Department of Education's new Academic Content Standards, which ensures that written curriculum, classroom instruction and assessments of learning all match - an alignment that research suggests makes a powerful impact on student achievement. We use these standards as a foundation to develop our courses of study. Crestview's collaborative focus on student achievement has paid off in ways that will open doors to a successful future for its graduates. We have implemented a number of initiatives that allows grade level teachers and departmental instructors to evaluate curriculum, examine materials, and improve instruction throughout the district. One initiative that has been implemented and yielding wonderful results is the U-CAN (University College Access Network) program. This program thoroughly exposes every senior to the vast opportunities that are available to them after graduation. While student achievement is our top priority we also believe that fostering character is an important part of each student's education. It is our responsibility as a school and as educators to instill and promote ideals of citizenship, leadership, kindness, commitment, and integrity.
