The Kelliher School District is located in Beltrami County in northern Minnesota adjacent to Upper Red Lake.
Kelliher Public School and the community have worked cooperatively for many years. A result of this cooperation is our new school, which opened in the fall of 1997.
The school is the hub of this rural area and serves as a vital resource to students, families, and the community. Modern technology is included in the new school. The Library Media Center is open two evenings a week to serve students and the public. The old school facility is now known as the Old School Center and houses the Kelliher Health Service and Clinic, providing health services to the community.
Our Vision Schoolcraft Learning Community is based on a shared conviction that enthusiasm and rigor are compatible and that students learn best in small group settings emphasizing individualized instruction, project orientation, and teamwork. We believe that local environment, culture, and history provide a bridge to global perspectives, a rich source of experiences and material. Students should be encouraged to become significant contributors to their community.
Our Mission Schoolcraft Learning Community exists to help develop individuals to be self-directed, lifelong learners who have the skills and knowledge to confidently and compassionately navigate in the world.
The vision and mission of Schoolcraft Learning Community emphasize the fact that development of personal character for our students is as important as academic growth and that, in fact, the two go hand in hand to build confident compassionate lifelong learners. Since its inception in 2000, Schoolcraft has been recognized for providing a supportive caring environment for learners – a place where students have the opportunity to build relationships with other students across grade levels, a place where they are encouraged to express their ideas and show what they know through arts-embedded academic work, a place where they are challenged by engaging expedition work that results in high quality products, and a place where students are able to access the resources of the greater Bemidji area and beyond as they grow as global citizens.
The mission of Voyageurs Expeditionary High School is to provide students with the necessary tools to lead meaningful and productive lives through hands-on learning, service to others and environmental stewardship.
Starting at a level much deeper than just curriculum, the design of Voyageurs addresses the origins of learning and the fundamental well-being of students. The foundation necessary to achieve the mission of our school is the establishment of a community of learners composed of students, families, teachers, and staff who share the conviction that the best education takes place in an intentionally developed environment that nurtures, protects, challenges, and values every member of that community.
