The Neoga Middle School, built in 2001, is home to the intermediate/upper elementary (4
th
-6
th)
grades for the district. At the conclusion of last year, we had approximately 156 students
attending NMS. The NMS staff consists of 12 certified members and 7 non-certified members.
At NMS, we build on the educational foundation laid by the faculty and staff of Neoga
Elementary School. Again, we want to nurture the total, or well-rounded, growth of students.
We really begin to focus on the type of person our School Mission (p. 8) describes, and work
towards that as a goal. There is a definite transition, or transformation, that takes place on the
part of students at NMS. Parents/Guardians will sense the NMS expectation of greater
independence and responsibility on the part of their son or daughter for their own education.
They will really see their student “grow up” in these years. We are building towards solidifying
the students’ above-mentioned foundation, not just for success in their secondary education
(junior high and high school), but most-importantly, in life. We are looking at developing not
only the necessary academic skills, but also the character, morals, and work ethic needed to put
students in a position to be successful. We again emphasize mastery of the Illinois Learning
Standards and Common Core Standards (with continued emphasis on Reading, Writing, and
Math), but understand that there is much more involved in the total education of a child. We
want to develop students who are excited about learning and great representatives of their
families and communities.
