The Board of Education of the Cleora Public Schools recognizes education is a function of the state and that the Board, as the District’s governing body, acts as an agency of the state. Therefore, state and national laws and regulations regarding education take precedence over local policies, rules and regulations. The Board of Education believes that education is a long-term investment. The Board recognizes its duty to provide experiences for children that lead to emotional, social and political adjustment in a democratic way of life. The Board believes that free public education is justifiable to the extent that it makes the supporting state a better place in which to live and make a living. Finally, the Board understands and supports the idea that the attainment of these objectives necessitates cooperation with all agencies in community life.

The primary functions of Kansas Public Schools are to provide students with an opportunity to develop interests, attitudes, skills and values that will enable them to become productive members of society in an ever-changing world. It is the school's responsibility to make students aware of rapidly changing life styles, and to guide them in their preparation to learn to adjust to existing political, economic and social conditions. The school should also establish an environment for living and learning that will allow the acquiring of a positive self-image and the strengthening of feelings of self-worth. This climate should demonstrate appreciation, understanding and respect for individual differences. Since human beings have a basic need to
relate, social needs are essential. The school should create a setting that encourages socialization through organized clubs and activities. An additional school phase is instruction in academic and social problemsolving. This should include the continuous development and strengthening of basic learning skills and the teaching of good citizenship. School programs should also be designed so that personal and public health and physical well-being are fostered. Students could then obtain necessary habits, knowledge and skills for entry level employment in selected occupations. The school climate should also be structured to provide intellectual challenge and opportunity to prepare for the challenges of future educational experience and/or training

Northeast Technology Center (NTC) is the # 1 place for career training in Northeast Oklahoma. With four campuses in Afton, Claremore, Kansas, and Pryor, we have locations all around our district. Northeast Technology Center (formerly “Northeast Area Vocational-Technical School District Number Eleven”) was formed by a majority vote of the people of Mayes, Craig, Rogers and Ottawa counties on February 4, 1969. The first school board was comprised of Dave Huchison, Carl Mustain, Samuel Victor, Ralph Boatright, and Jack Kissee. Earl Kelly was hired to become the first superintendent of the district, and offices were established at 122 South Scraper in Vinita. Today, NTC serves students across eight counties with its four campuses in Afton, Claremore, Kansas, and Pryor. Each year, NTC trains over 1,200+ students in its full time daytime programs. Through NTC’s Business & Industry Services, along with short term night and weekend classes, almost 20,000 additional students train through NTC.
