Verden Public Schools is a small rural school district located just west of Chickasha. The district has an enrollment of 275 students and employs 23 certified teachers, 12 support staff, and 2 administrators. Passage of recent bond issues by the community has allowed the district to make renovations to the gymnasium and cafeteria, as well as the installation of a brand new 8,500 sq. ft. playground at the elementary. A generous donation by Verden Alumnus Larry Ferguson resulted in the construction of a brand new Vo-Ag building, complete with a classroom, a 26 station computer lab, and a 8,000 sq. ft. machine and welding shop. The district has two mobile MacBook labs, two mobile iPad labs, and two desktop computer labs. Not only is concurrent enrollment offered to high school juniors and seniors via interactive network communication for college credit, but the district is a member of the Caddo-Kiowa Career Technology Center giving students the option to train towards a vocational trade. Verden athletes compete in fall and spring baseball, fast pitch and slow pitch softball, and basketball. The district has very active FFA and FCCLA programs, as well as academic teams down to the 4th grade level.
