Serving the Town of Granite, we are a small rural school located in Greer County. Steeped in tradition, Grante Public Schools has received state recognition in both academics and athletics. Through the efforts of our hard working educators, combined with the involvement of concerned parents and a supportive community, we strive to instill a strong work ethic and high standards within our students so they may thrive in their future.
Modern history of Mangum begins in 1905 with the erection of the grand old High School; this also marked the building epoch; 1906 found the court-house under construction. Brave citizens dragged the Wichita Falls & Northwestern through our city in 1909 and the same year the foundation of our $40,000 Methodist Church was laid. This same year the Central School and two ward buildings of modern scientific construction were opened for the Mangum children; then followed the City Hall, which is a most modern constructed building, being of brick and concrete from ground to roof. This year a $50,000 Baptist church was completed also. Our schools are of the finest in the State and our citizens the finest. In fact, we have a most modern, up-to-date city of the first class---a city second to none.
