ARLINGTON LOCAL
The Arlington Local School District was established in 1929. The school facility is located on 20 acres of land at the south end of the village. The original building was built in 1923. Additions and major renovations were made in 1948, 1958, 1977 and 1992. Visitors to the school often comment on the well-kept facility. The beautiful village of Arlington is located eight miles south of Findlay on State Route 68. A bedroom community located in the rich farming region of Hancock County, residents enjoy a peaceful living experience where family-friendly activities abound. Major cultural activities are within easy driving distance in Toledo (sixty minutes) and Columbus (ninety minutes). Major shopping centers are located in Lima (thirty minutes) and Findlay (fifteen minutes). Blanchard Valley Hospital is located in Findlay and a medical facility housing two doctors is located in Arlington. There are many churches in the school district representing a variety of faiths. The Arlington Good Samaritan Center, a retirement and continuing care facility, is located directly west of the school. The close-knit community comes together often at school events, chicken barbeques, ice cream socials, and local church and village activities. In this small-town atmosphere, children are the focal point of the community. Over one hundred people regularly volunteer their time at the school.

Findlay City Schools considers "facilitating student achievement" in a safe and caring environment as one of our top priorities (Strategic Plan - Strategy I & II). In many of our core subject areas, the district is using the Ohio Department of Education academic content standards which ensures the written curriculum, classroom instruction, and assessments of all learning to match in an alignment in which research suggests makes a powerful achievement tool for our students. The Findlay community has been awarded "The 100 Best Communities Award" for children for the past four years and Findlay City Schools is a major factor in attaining that award. Working closely with the Community Foundation and many other community agencies Findlay City Schools continues to offer programs that help nurture the whole child including service learning, guidance, wellness, award winning music programs, nationally recognized journalism, fine arts courses, intramural and competitive sports, and provide continued special services for special needs and gifted students. We also believe that promoting character is important as part of our student's experience at Findlay. The nine virtues are focused on one inspirational word of the month and are created to support our community’s shared values.

HANCOCK COUNTY ESC
The Governing Board of the Hancock County ESC believes that every individual possesses the capacity and will to learn. We recognize that every learner has different abilities, needs and interest which affect their degree of learning and realize that this necessitates a varied curriculum and a stimulating environment. We also believe that it is our responsibility to develop a high quality educational service organization dedicated to providing administrative, curricular, instructional, pupil personnel, and professional development services to the schools of Hancock County by the most efficient and economical means possible. These services are primarily designed to assist boards of education, administrators, teachers, and other staff members of the local school districts so that they may develop into strong leaders in their schools and that the students may become socially and economically productive members of society. Therefore, to promote this belief, we recognize that it is our purpose to assist local school districts in developing educational programs that they deem necessary and compelling for the improvement of their schools and to provide leadership that is alert to the best educational practices of the day.
