The Brinnon School District has made a significant commitment to education and the integration of technology into the classroom curriculum. Our K-8 school offers students a variety of resources via digital connections utilizing the K-20 communication system. Four interactive whiteboards were purchased December 2008 and placed in classrooms and the technology lab. Our teachers have received extensive training and the students are excited to learn when utilizing the whiteboards and “active expressions” to communicate new learning. Many of our teachers and classified staff have been in the community for many years; some spent their elementary year attending the Brinnon School. They are well connected with the community and provide the foundation for our community school. Volunteers in the school are always welcome and are a valuable part of the community.
The Chimacum School District covers a 100 square mile area, which includes the communities of Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock, Irondale, Chimacum, Shine, Paradise Bay and Marrowstone Island. The total district general fund budget is approximately $10.5 million, with about 19% of that total raised through local levies. Personnel costs account for approximately 80% of all expenditures.
