East Aurora School District 131has the distinction of being the First Public School District in the state of Illinois. East Aurora became a charter district on April 30, 1847 and was officially recognized by the state in 1851.

West Aurora School District 129 includes North Aurora and portions of Aurora, Montgomery and Sugar Grove. The district serves a growing and diverse population from its urban, suburban and rural areas. The student population is 49% Hispanic, 32% Non-Hispanic Caucasian, 15% African-American, 3% Asian, .05% Native American, and 3% Multi-Racial.

The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. VALLEY EDUC FOR EMPLOY SYSTEM
Valley Education for Employment System (VALEES) is a regional delivery system established by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) which serves 18 school districts, two area career/vocational centers, one special education cooperative and Waubonsee Community College, covering a five-county area. VALEES also collaborates with College of DuPage, Joliet Junior College, and Kishwaukee College to promote articulated Career and Technical Programs.
