Janesville School is contained in a one-school district. The school serves approximately 450 students in kindergarten through the eighth grade. Janesville School is known as a “union school district” because several smaller school districts, including Janesville, Lake, Missouri Bend and Milford that formerly existed in the Honey Lake Valley joined into one single, geographically large school district.

Shaffer Elementary School is a rural one-campus school district located about 17 miles east of Susanville in beautiful Lassen County, California. We are currently serving approximately 315 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are a community of students, teachers, parents and staff who value education and support the development of the whole child. We provide a family atmosphere where each child is honored and recognized as a valued member of the community. Along with providing a rigorous academic curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in after school sports and clubs, designed to promote cooperation, teamwork, responsibility and respect. Our school is proud to implement the Character Counts program where students learn the value of developing strong personal ethics and character.
