Welcome to the Region One School District. Our districts are well known for the high quality educational experiences students participate in while attending our schools. Region One School District consists of six towns - Canaan, Cornwall, Kent, North Canaan, Salisbury and Sharon. Each town, under an autonomous board of education, maintains an elementary school that offers pre-kindergarten through grade eight educational programs. Housatonic Valley Regional High School serves grades nine through twelve for Region One, offering a comprehensive program of studies.

Regional School District No. 7 is a comprehensive public middle-high school composed of four rural-suburban towns: Barkhamsted, Colebrook, New Hartford and Norfolk. The district, consisting of 157 square miles, is located twenty miles west of Hartford and has a population of approximately 12,700.

We are a small school district that provides for the pre k through 12th grade educations of the children from the three member towns that comprise our region: Bridgewater, Roxbury, and Washington. Children receive their primary educations in one of the three elementary schools in their individual towns, and then come together for middle and high school on the Shepaug campus where both programs utilize a single expansive facility on an over sixty acre site.

Watertown views the education of its children as a shared responsibility of the school system, our families, and the community. The school system serves a diverse population of approximately 3,300 students in grades pre-K-12. As part of the district’s continuous improvement initiative, considerable efforts have been undertaken to revise curriculum and engage students in powerful learning experiences aligned to state standards and emphasizing the critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary for students to be successful in college and as citizens in our global community.
