The Dixie School District is an elementary district serving the northern San Rafael community of Terra Linda, Marinwood, Lucas Valley and a portion of Contempo Marin. It was founded in 1864, making it one of the oldest school districts in Marin County.

Laguna School’s educational philosophy is based on the education of the ‘whole child’ in a safe and nurturing environment. The Larkspur School District is a high performing K-8 school district serving families and students in the cities of Corte Madera and Larkspur, approximately 8 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, California. The residents of the Twin Cities community are very supportive of public education. The average per pupil spending is $9,300. Local revenue from business leases, a parcel tax and the Corte Madera Larkspur Schools Foundation allow the district to provide ample enrichment programs at its schools, including visual and performing arts, technology, science specialists, a variety of GATE activities, after school tutoring and homework clubs and foreign language to its students.

• Providing programs and services to prepare students to be productive citizens;
• Establishing tangible measurable criteria for the evaluation of all Marin County Office of Education’s programs and services;
• Insuring the quality of Marin County Office of Education’s programs and services by comparative and analytical evaluation of student achievement;
• Demonstrating the cost-efficient utilization of available resources by monitoring the balance between commitment and results;
• Providing effective, centralized services to the districts and schools in Marin County; and
• Advancing technology and telecommunications for Marin County’s students and community.

The Marin Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is committed to leadership in developing and providing quality vocational education needs to Marin County High School Students. ROP closely collaborates with business in program design; teaches, reinforces, and enriches core academic curricula; prepares students for gainful employment; provides, real-world applications of skills that will connect students' present activities and future lives; and, prepares students to meet the needs and expectations of employers today and in the future. ROP is a partner in the State and County CalWORKs reform. The ROP also coordinates efforts, programs, and resources to help implement and support the Marin County School to Career Program.

Originally established by City Charter in 1861, the San Rafael City Schools has for generations understood the importance of providing a safe, challenging and culturally rich learning environment that provides our students with the opportunity to realize their maximum potential and prepare for the challenges ahead.

In accordance with the City Charter, the San Rafael City Schools represents two separate school districts: one for elementary grades (K-8) and one for the high school level (9-12). Both Districts are governed by one five-member Board of Education and share a Superintendent. Students of the San Rafael Elementary School District are part of the San Rafael High School District.
