The Mariposa County Unified School District consists of 13 Schools with a total student population of approximately 2,360 students. Mariposa County High School is a sustained California Distinguished School, and has a student population of approximately 640 students. Mariposa Middle School, grades 7 - 8, has approximately 270 students, and is also a sustained California Distinguished School. Seven elementary schools are located throughout the county and include six California Distinguished Schools, a CSBA Golden Bell Winner and a national Blue Ribbon Nominee. The district also offers alternative education programs, a community school and two necessary small high schools in more remote areas. Special education services are available at all school sites. District teachers and students have received many area and state honors for outstanding programs.
