We are located in Shelton, Washington, 15 miles Northwest of Olympia, off Highways 101 and 3, on the beautiful Hammersley Inlet of Puget Sound. We have the pride of a smaller, family-oriented community with the benefit of many desired amenities nearby. Southside School District has about 200 students in grades K-7 on one campus. Our teachers are all highly qualified, meeting state requirements, to meet the educational needs of our students while maintaining the personalization of a small district setting. Most of our employees have worked at Southside for over 10 years and their average years of experience in education are over 18 years. Generations of families have attended Southside. Approximately 40% of our student population is students and families who waiver into the school district due to the positive attributes of Southside. Supported immensely by involved parents and active community members, and led by a capable and caring school board, our principal/superintendent, teachers, and support staff are committed to helping students reach their full potential as students and positive contributors to our community. The Southside community has continued to demonstrate a belief in the importance of education by continually supporting the levies needed to operate this district. Lastly, Southside is successful because of the support of the many parent and community volunteers. We have a parent/community booster club that works collaboratively with the school to insure that our students have opportunities not afforded at other places. Together, our staff and community have a positive impact on the exceptional education of all of our students.
