The Merced County Regional Occupational Program is a workplace learning program that has been in continuous operation since 1973. ROP students learn to work through practical experience. After basic classroom instruction, many students are placed at work sites throughout the community and are taught occupational skills by professionals in the field.
The Merced River School District was formed July 1, 1974. The district operates two schools for students attending classes in kindergarten through grades eight. It covers a rural area of approximately 30 square miles located in eastern Merced County near the cities of Atwater, Merced, Snelling and Winton. The district is made up of diversified farming, dairying and ranching.
Snelling-Merced Falls Elementary creates a positive learning environment by focusing on individualized classroom lessons, supportive after school programs and clubs, and personalized professional ethics. Parents, staff, and the community embrace each students' potential and encourages individualized growth for academic and personal success.
Winton School District is an elementary district with four school sites. There are three Preschool through fifth grade sites and one middle school. The school district encompasses the community of Winton, located in Merced County serving more than 1,800 students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. The community is a rural, agricultural, and unincorporated one, with a population of approximately 8, 000. Our district serves a diverse student population of about 81% Hispanics; 10% White; 7% Asian; 1% Black; and the remaining 1% are listed as Other.
