OFFICE OF EDUCATION JUVENILE JUSTICE COMMISSION
It is the mission of the Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) to provide students in all of its programs, which include secure facilities, residential community homes, and day programs, with equal access to high quality educational instruction. This educational experience focuses on student-centered learning environments grounded in rigor, relevance, relationships and real world problem solving applications. It is firmly believed that all students have the ability to learn, given the proper instructional environment. The JJC’s Office of Education has the challenging task of ensuring that residents are provided with an educational program that is not only compliant with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, but also meets the needs of its unique student population and settings. Most of the young people who enter JJC programs come with poor school attendance records and varying abilities. Each juvenile is tested and placed in appropriate classes depending on his or her skill levels. Individualized Education Plans are developed for each student. Small class sizes and individual attention often allow students to progress quickly, with the aim of reaching their proper grade level. The JJC coordinates each student’s curriculum with his or her local school. This often enables students to return to school at the same point as their classmates or to receive their diplomas from their home high schools.

PRINCETON INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY CS
The Princeton International Academy Charter School does not intend to open for the 2012-2013 school year. Once again, we lack an adequate school facility within our three home districts. We continue our search for a facility, but know that anything that is identified between now and June 30 will not be ready in time for September 2012. Our Charter Application was approved by the NJ Department of Education in January 2010. Since that time, we have worked tireless to find a facility that is of adequate size and configuration to be a safe and inspiring home for our school. But, zoning issues have been the thorn in our sides. In its initial year PIACS will offer instruction for Kindergarten (60 students) 1st grade (60 students) and 2nd grade (50 students), and will add a grade each subsequent year.

PRINCETON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The district has, throughout its entire history, had some affiliation with Princeton University, which has existed since the 1700's. Many students of the Princeton Regional District are sons or daughters of University employees, and there are several cooperative programs between the University and the district. Princeton University helped provide for the Internet connection that is delivering this page to you. As part of their 250th anniverary, Princeton University made available on the web a virtual tour of the campus, called the Orange Key Tour. Another such tour is the Interactive Campus History. A Commission to study the consolidation of the two Princetons also issued a history of the town of Princeton, entitled The Making of the Two Princetons, the first part of a report on their findings, which gives a brief summary of the history of this town, dating back to 1696.
