The Covington Exempted Village School District is organized under Article VI, Sections 2 and 3 of the Constitution of the State of Ohio. The District operates under a locally-elected Board form of government consisting of five members elected at-large for staggered four year terms. The District provides educational services as authorized by State statute and federal guidelines. The District was established in 1837 through the consolidation of existing land areas and school districts. The District serves an area of approximately 35 square miles. It is located in Miami County, and includes all of the village of Covington and Newberry, Newton and Washington Townships. The District is staffed by 48 non-certificated employees, and 64 certificated full-time teaching personnel who provide services to approximately 836 students and other community members. The District currently operates three instructional/support buildings. The Miami County Educational Service Center (MCESC) was established in 1914 as a county office serving the schools of Miami County, Ohio. Since becoming an educational service center in 1995, the MCESC has expanded services to include schools and organizations throughout Ohio. As one of the largest ESCs in the state, with over 250 employees, we provide a broad spectrum of services to the educational community, including staff development programs, superintendent and treasurer searches, services for students with special needs, preschool programs, curriculum assistance, and technology consultation. The Miami County Educational Service Center will provide quality services to the educational community, through leadership, training and support, with vision and commitment to respond to changing needs.

The Miami East Local School District strives for excellence in all areas. For five consecutive years the Miami East Local School
District has earned the highest academic rating given by the state of Ohio “Excellent with Distinction”. Additionally, the Miami East
Local School District has earned the All-Sports Trophy in the Cross County league for the past five consecutive years. Additionally, the Miami East FFA earns state and national honors
every year. The Music Program has qualified for state competition
and annually receives Superior ratings in state and local
competitions.

The mission of the Newton Local School District is to provide an appropriate educational program that is significant, durable and transferable and have a learning environment that is physically and psychologically safe. The program will include activities designed to meet student needs through special education,
vocational education and academic education. The goal being to produce a responsible, productive, goal-oriented member of society and the student will with knowledge, skills and/or attitudes acquired live his/her life by being a lifelong learner, apply learning to post-secondary education, to the world of work and/or to one’s personal life.
