The Community of Holmdel has a growing population of approximately 15, 000 residents. Holmdel is located 45 miles south of New York City in central New Jersey in Monmouth County. During the Revolutionary War the British named this area the Hornets Nest because of the sting from our fighting patriots meant frequent defeat to the British raiders. MONMOUTH-OCEAN EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMISSION
The Monmouth Ocean Educational Services Commission is a public, non-profit agency which provides educational programs for school districts, students with special needs, parents and staff members of our member districts, and other Educational Services Commissions. We assist school districts administratively through cooperative purchasing programs; cooperative transportation, staff development and assisting in meeting federal grant compliance for both public and non public schools. Additionally we provide Child Study Team Services and After School Child Care. Founded in 1979 we offer programs and services geared to local school districts’ individual educational and administrative needs that are affordable and of high quality. We are governed by a board of directors elected by a representative assembly of one representative from each of our member districts. Our learning centers are found in Tinton Falls. The target student population is those students who are emotionally disturbed, neurologically impaired, or those who are “at risk” of dropping out of school prior to receiving a high school diploma. Additional student populations include summer school, on line and in a traditional classroom setting, and the New Jersey Virtual School where students can take classes anytime and anyplace that has computer access. In all cases our staff is fully certified by the State of New Jersey, and meets both federal and state highly qualified requirements. All our courses meet the State of New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Adults in the community have the opportunity to participate in educational and enrichment courses offered through our Monmouth Adult Education Commission (MAECOM) Courses are also available for ABE/GED/ESL.

SEA GIRT BOROUGH PUBLIC SCHOOLS
COMMUNITY PROFILE-Sea Girt School was established in 1970 in a small, one-mile square seashore town in Monmouth County with 2,600 residents and 1,200 homes. The borough was founded in 1875 and is a close-knit community whose residents have a sense of pride in the school and community. There are a dozen active civic organizations in the town that contribute to the well-being of the community. Many of these organizations use the school facilities for various functions. Sea Girt has one of the lowest property tax rates in the state.SCHOOL PROFILE-Sea Girt Elementary School is nationally recognized as a USDOE Blue Ribbon School. In our small school setting children become a part of an extended school family. We house a full day pre-kindergarten and kindergarten program. Grades PK-5 are self-contained and students in Grades 6-8 are departmentalized during a nine-period day.
