Nelson County Public Schools are committed to maintaining a high standard of quality for the individual student. The curriculum at all levels is aimed primarily at the expansion and development of each student's intellectual, physical, social and emotional capabilities. Using the Virginia Standards of Learning as the minimum competencies expected of our students, teachers and administrators work with parents and the community to ensure that the needs of each child are met. Nelson County High School offers students from grades 9 to 12 a full range of educational opportunities. Nelson Middle School offers "true middle school" programs with grades 6 to 8. Lastly, Tye River Elementary and Rockfish River Elementary offer outstanding elementary school programs for students in grades Pre-K through grade 5. All schools are accredited by the Virginia State Department of Education and comply with the Virginia Standards of Accreditation, Virginia Standards of Quality and the Virginia Standards of Learning.
