LAKEVIEW USD #43
Lakeview Union School, a kindergarten through sixth grade school located in Greensboro, Vermont, educates children from the towns of Greensboro and Stannard. The ‘upper campus’ contains the office, classrooms, a multi-purpose room, library, conference room, and kitchen. The original structure was built in 1957. In 1983, when Stannard and Greensboro formed Lakeview Union School, the library, office, bathrooms and multi-purpose room were added. The ‘lower campus’, built in 1910, houses the Town Clerk’s Offices, classrooms and the art/music room. Staff and students have wide opportunities to learn beyond academics. The music, art and physical education programs are integral parts of the curriculum. With the help of community volunteers, skiing and snow shoeing once a week add variety to physical education during winter. The teacher and parent group, known as the P.L.U.S team, (People for Lakeview Union School) have a mission aligned with the school mission — to broaden experiences, encourage learning, and active, safe recreation. Lakeview is one of six Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union schools participating in Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBiS). PBiS is a school-wide approach that addresses behavior and improves school climate overall for students, staff, families, and the community. This initiative is in the second year phase for OSSU and Lakeview.
