Pontotoc County School Districts
-
Pontotoc City School District is no exception. As an educational leader for the state, Pontotoc City Schools are “reaching a higher level of learning” for all our students. PCSD is a High Performing school district that serves the twenty-three hundred students who reside both in the Pontotoc city limits and the immediate surrounding area. Our students excel in a variety of areas, including top scores on state assessments, competitive music and athletic programs, and service to our community. It is the quality of educational services, as well as adult role models in our community, that instill a sense of community in all we do.

Employing approximately 450 people, our district is one of the largest employers in Pontotoc County. Of this number, 267 are certified teachers, counselors and administrators with 50 of these teachers being National Board Certified. The district's teachers work hard to reach academic goals, train educators on best practices, and provide the students with the best educational opportunities available to fit their individual needs.
School safety is the top priority of our district. Our students, parents, teachers and communities are committed to working together to maintain high standards of behavior on each campus; therefore, this district has a low number of discipline problems. We believe the students should be rewarded for this remarkable behavior. South Pontotoc was a recent recipient of the Reach Mississippi Positive Behavior grant. This grant is designed to provide funding for programs that will increase and reward positive behavior in every aspect of the school environment as well as decrease the absentee and the dropout rates. We hope to expand this program to North Pontotoc in the near future.
