Mission: Prince George County Public Schools, in partnership with parents and the community, will provide a rigorous educational program in a safe environment that prepares all students for post-secondary education and the workforce and to be responsible citizens in a global society. Strategic Goal: To provide students with the knowledge and skills to exceed state, national and international standards
Rowanty Technical Center prepares high school students for employment and higher education in many fields. A jointly operated facility serving Dinwiddie, Prince George and Sussex County Public Schools, Rowanty Technical Center is located in Carson, Virginia, equidistant from each of the county high schools. Students attend Rowanty Technical Center three periods per day. Students obtain their core curriculum at each respective high school. Most instructional programs at Rowanty are two years in length. Students either begin in a Two-Year Multi-Skills Program or directly enter one specific program requiring two years of preparation. Standards of Learning (SOL's) are reinforced in all classes through practical application or classroom instruction. Cooperative Education provides supervised work experience and is available to selected students during the second semester of their senior year. Upon graduation, Rowanty Technical Center's students are prepared for employment or further education in their field. Graduates may be granted advanced placement at Southside Virginia Community College.
