One thing that makes Chelsea Schools great is our student body. Every student has a place in our system, and should take pride in himself or herself as well as any school function.
We believe it is the responsibility of the Foyil Public Schools to provide the individual with an atmosphere conducive to better understanding of traditional American ideals. We believe that the school must work in close cooperation with the community, the home, and the civic organization. The school will encourage student activities necessary to provide a well-balanced educational program which provides for individual academic capabilities. We believe that the relationship of the faculty and the administrators must be one of cooperation to enrich the learning environment. We believe that the teacher is responsible for implementing the educational process, and for organizing and initiating the classroom activities. The required curriculum prepares the students to function effectively in a modern complex society. The school will take its place beside the home and the church in helping each child establish standards by which he may live and develop those qualities and attitudes that will enrich and strengthen his life.
The philosophy of the Justus-Tiawah School is based upon the following general rules: 1. Justus-Tiawah citizens have rights and responsibilities, so also do classroom citizens have rights
and responsibilities. 2. The student does not divest himself of his constitutional rights on entering the schoolhouse. 3. So long as the student does not disrupt the educational process, impose upon, endanger or deprive others of their rights, the student will enjoy his freedoms of expression, orderly assembly, privacy
of person and freedom from discrimination. 4. Fair and reasonable procedure will be followed to assure the student’s rights. 5. The student, in turn, needs to recognize that to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning, the reasonable exercise of authority by school officials is necessary. 6. All persons connected with our schools must demonstrate respect for the rights of the students and students must accept their responsibility toward others and toward the school system. 7. Rules of discipline are guidelines for behavior, so that all may know what is expected of them in the
school community.
Northeast Technology Center (NTC) is the # 1 place for career training in Northeast Oklahoma. With four campuses in Afton, Claremore, Kansas, and Pryor, we have locations all around our district. Northeast Technology Center (formerly “Northeast Area Vocational-Technical School District Number Eleven”) was formed by a majority vote of the people of Mayes, Craig, Rogers and Ottawa counties on February 4, 1969. The first school board was comprised of Dave Huchison, Carl Mustain, Samuel Victor, Ralph Boatright, and Jack Kissee. Earl Kelly was hired to become the first superintendent of the district, and offices were established at 122 South Scraper in Vinita. Today, NTC serves students across eight counties with its four campuses in Afton, Claremore, Kansas, and Pryor. Each year, NTC trains over 1,200+ students in its full time daytime programs. Through NTC’s Business & Industry Services, along with short term night and weekend classes, almost 20,000 additional students train through NTC.
