Blue River Career Programs provides vocational skill training and career exploration opportunities for students from the five high schools in Shelby County. Students attend vocational programs for half of their school day and attend classes at their home high school for the other half of the day.

Southwestern Consolidated School District was one of 23 districts in the state to be awarded money for The Excellence in Performance for Teachers’ Grant at the State House on Thursday, April 19, 2012. The district received nearly $60,000 to award teachers for excellence in the classroom.
