Knox Community High School is a pioneer in alternative scheduling and course offerings for our students. KCHS operates on an Alternating Day Block 8 Schedule, which allows students to explore learning opportunities, which would not be available to them on a traditional schedule. KCHS has provided professional development training for over 60 high schools in the state of Indiana since the adoption of our Block Schedule.
The school district has one high school, one middle school, one elementary school with grades 1 through 5, and a full-day kindergarten center located in San Pierre. Current enrollment is just under 1,450. Recent renovations to the outdoor athletic facilities, and the addition of a Performing Fine Arts Center has enhanced the Corporation's already active music, academic, and athletic departments. Many of our faculty have been recognized for excellence in the classroom through awards and being invited to participate in professional development activities across the country Students participate in a wide variety of activities in a secure and nurturing environment. Both students and staff enjoy the availability of modern technology.
The mission of the Oregon-Davis School Corporation is to provide quality learning opportunities for all students allowing each individual to reach their fullest potential by developing independent thinking, respect for self and others, positive attitudes, everyday living skills, and the motivation to achieve in the competitive world in which we live. The school will provide these opportunities by educating the students to communicate effectively, gather and use information appropriately and accept responsibility for the decisions which are made in the ever-changing society.
