Hardesty Public Schools is located in the southeastern corner of Texas County in the Oklahoma Panhandle just ten miles north of the Oklahoma/Texas state line very near the heart of “No Man’s Land.” The school district covers approximately 250 square miles. The school is the life of the Town of Hardesty. It is the town center. It is the focus of the people. Therefore, education is of great importance. We are excited about meeting the challenge of providing the students of the Hardesty School District with the finest educational experience possible.
In this Information Age, we believe it is essential to prepare our students to work in an evolving, information-centered, global community. It is critical that our students become familiar with the tools of information technology, given the rapid pace of technological change, and the growth of information technologies in all aspects of our lives. We believe that all students and staff must be competent in using these tools to obtain information, to solve problems, and to communicate. We as educators must intergrate these technology tools with new models of teaching that meets each student's individual learning style and help ensure that each student has an opportunity to become a lifelong learner. The use of technology will be curriculum driven and should be intergrated into the total school environment. Hooker Public Schools will incorporate technology as a natural part of education through an intergrated, comprehensive framework to govern acquisition, application and evaluation of technological resources.
The mission of the Texhoma Public Schools is to foster personal characteristics in our students that include not only the accumulation of knowledge and development of skills, but also the development of attitudes ideals and understandings that are commensurate with a moral and democratic society. To accomplish this, the school will offer a curriculum with co-curriculum activities that meets the needs of the students and provides for a "Student Centered" instructional atmosphere that will give each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential to master the "Priority Academic Student Skills".
Yarbrough School started in the fall of 1950 with the consolidation of three complete grade school districts and parts of other grade school and high school districts. The three grade school districts were: Whitehall, Sandy Hook, and Cosmos. At this time there was a deadline on consolidation of schools and county superintendent, Theo Yarbrough, who was born and raised in the present Yarbrough school district, was instrumental in helping get the paperwork submitted in time to meet the deadline. There was much discussion about the school's location. Finally, Mr. Emery Addington agreed to sell the land, where the present school is located, to the district. Our rural location, small class size, and fantastic personnel offer our students an excellent opportunity for a superb educational experience. Yarbrough is poised to offer its students a great learning environment well into the 21st century.
