The mission of the Fort Frye Local School District is to enable all students to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to live as caring, independent thinking, productive citizens in a changing global society. While our district met 23 of 26 state indicators in the 2011-2012 school year, our students, staff, and community are striving towards "excellence." The Fort Frye District has one high school that houses grades 7-12 and three elementary schools for kindergarten through 6th grade. The district has a total of 84 faculty and professional staff members and 78 support personnel. Even though we are a small school district of approximately 1026 students, the 18 full-time bus routes cover 176 square miles in the Fort Frye School District.
Frontier Local School District serves over 800 students, within it's three elementary schools and one 7-12 school. In 1968 Frontier Local School District was formed from the consolidation of four school districts, Newport, Lawrence, Bloomfield, and Matamoras. Cougars became the new athletic mascot name and the new school colors became Columbia Blue and Vegas Gold. Located along the Ohio River in Washington County, the district covers 156 square miles with Wayne National Forest, making up 40 percent of the area. Frontier Local School District is the largest employer in the district with approximately 100 employees. The district is mainly rural with a limited tax base and approximately 80 percent of our operating funds come from the state and federal governments. Over 60 percent of our students qualify for Free or Reduced Lunches and the district offers free breakfast to every student. Frontier Local School District earned a state report card rating of “Effective” for the 2009-2010 school and Frontier High Middle School earned a Bronze Medal rating in 2009 from U.S. News and World Report.
The District promotes the acquisition of basic comprehension, communication and computation skills to the greatest extent possible for each student. Efforts are made to offer each student opportunities to master the basic skills needed to pursue his/her chosen goals. District provides opportunities and encouragement for students to gain knowledge and experience in the sciences, humanities and arts. The District attempts to respond to each student’s need to develop a positive self-image and enhances his/her ability to determine, understand
and examine his/her own capabilities, interests and goals. The District fosters skills of constructive and critical thinking in order to enable each student to deal effectively with conditions and problems in an independent, self-fulfilling and responsible manner. The District provides students with information necessary to function in a rapidly changing workplace. The District promotes the development of students to enable them to become mature, responsible citizens with respect for the
rights of others and the law. The District promotes an eagerness for learning which encourages each student to continue to benefit from educational opportunities beyond formal schooling. The District provides an opportunity for each student to gain knowledge and understanding of social skills, so that he/she is prepared to participate responsibly and successfully in a pluralistic society. The District encourages each student to gain a critical understanding of his/her role as a producer and consumer of goods and services and of the principles involved in the production of goods and services. The District encourages
student development of an appreciation for the maintenance, protection and improvement of the physical environment. The District helps students develop good habits concerning care of the body and avoidance of harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Lifelong physical fitness including lifetime recreational
skills are promoted. The District highlights the strengths of the educational program and invites the community to participate in school functions. Continual Evaluation and Revision of Curriculum. The District provides, through the evaluation process, a curriculum that is pertinent to student and community needs.
The mission of the Washington County Joint Vocational School District is to provide career options through technical and academic education in a secure environment, resulting in knowledgeable and skilled individuals who are prepared for future opportunities and productive citizenship.
Wolf Creek Local School District is located in Waterford, Ohio. The district is situated in Southeastern Ohio in the heart of the Muskingum River Valley in northwestern Washington County. It encompasses approximately 124 square miles, has two school buildings: Waterford Elementary School, for grades K-8, and Waterford High School, grades 9-12, and serves around 700 students. Our mission at Wolf Creek Local Schools is to ensure all students will have the skills to become lifelong learners. Our school system integrates community, technological and educational resources, delivered by caring, committed role models who respect the unique strengths and talents of each individual. We believe all students can learn while gaining responsibility and respect for self and society.
