Galileo Charter School, a free, public school available to all K-6 students in the Richmond/Wayne County area, opened in August of 2005. GCS is founded on the cornerstones of literacy, character development, and self-esteem.
The Hagerstown community is a great place to live and the Nettle Creek School Corporation is a great place for student learning. Our students have received National Merit Scholarship distinction and our graduates attend some of the best public and private colleges in the nation and perform successfully in the most rigorous higher education programs. Our students enter society as doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, managers and a myriad of other occupations. When they leave our schools, our students are prepared for what lies ahead, whatever that might be. While facilities don’t necessarily ensure achievement, they often help and the Nettle Creek School Corporation provides excellent facilities for its students. We have worked hard to develop and provide quality academic, athletic and co-curricular programs for our students. Students leaving our schools are prepared for a 21st Century world.
Richmond Community Schools, in partnership with the community, will work to bring modern technology to our children's educational experience to support and enhance teaching and learning. This is necessary to allow children with differing learning styles or learning speeds to learn more efficiently; assist in the development of children's higher order learning skills; educate our children in international and multiethnic issues; prepare our children for the workplace.
We believe that all students deserve:
a proper and suitable public education by adults who offer fair opportunities for all students to be successful. We feel students deserve dedicated teachers who are excellent role models and provide a caring and safe environment. We believe all students deserve an atmosphere where learning is encouraged and expected. We believe all students deserve to be treated with respect in a harassment free setting. We believe students deserve to be empowered to develop goals through broad exposure to careers and future life choices. We believe all students deserve to feel a sense of support from a variety of sources.
