District #115 offers a unique combination of formal education within a personalized environment and ensures that curriculum and technology are continuously upgraded to meet the needs of the students. Thanks to a very supportive community two referenda, passed in 2002, and two more referenda passed in 2006 allowed the District to add additional staff, more programs, and open a 33,000 sq. ft. addition to the high school, a new Intermediate School for 750 students in grades 4-6 which opened in the fall of 2004, an addition of five classrooms to Bristol Grade School housing students in grades K-3 opening in 2005, and, thanks to a joint agreement with the developers of the Grande Reserve subdivision, Grande Reserve, a new Elementary School, was built at no cost to the taxpayers, which opened in August 2006. In the fall of 2007 District 115 opened another new elementary school for 650 pre-k-6 students at Bristol Bay, also constructed through an agreement with the developers who put $6 million towards that effort, with another pre-K-6 grade elementary school at the Autumn Creek subdivision that opened in the fall of 2009 in a continued effort to stay ahead of a growing student body and keep the student/teacher ration low. The Yorkville High School Academy opened in the fall of 2008 and houses the entire freshman class in the original high school building that has been reconstructed to meet the needs of the new advanced freshman high school curriculum. Yorkville Grade School and Circle Center Grade School were both completely renewed with new paint, air conditioning, new lighting, and flooring in 2007. Passage of the building fund referendum in 2006 also allowed the District to build a new middle school for 1000 students in grades 7 and 8 in the Raintree subdivision, south of town, which opened in the fall of 2008 with an enrollment of over 800 students. The District Citizen's Advisory Committee, comprised of community volunteers, has contributed time and effort to research and evaluate the concerns and effects associated with growth. Over the years, other citizen advisory groups have been involved in transportation, food service, technology, gifted and talented, and bi-lingual (ELL) programs, providing valuable input. Many of our parents have also become involved in our many booster clubs, PTO’s, and other parent groups in all district buildings. Yorkville Grade, Circle Center Grade and Bristol Grade schools will begin the learning process for students in grades K-3. Autumn Creek, Grande Reserve and Bristol Bay Elementary Schools serve students in grades K-6. Yorkville Intermediate School is home to students in grades 4 through 6. Yorkville Middle School continues with grades 7 and 8. Finally, Grade 9 students will enter the High School Academy and then transfer as sophomores to the high school, preparing and expanding minds for the step into adulthood. The District also has a wonderful special education program through its membership in the Kendall County Special Education Cooperative. District high school students have the opportunity for technical programs offered through District membership in the Indian Valley Vocational Center. Further educational opportunities await high school students through an agreement to allow class work while, in high school, with nearby Waubonsee Community College.
