COVERED BRIDGE SPEC ED DIST - Indiana School District

About School District: The Covered Bridge Special Education District, an interlocal special education planning district formed in 1978, provides consultation services to the combined student populations of the Rockville Community School Corporation, the South Vermillion Community School Corporation, the Southwest Parke Community School Corporation, and the Vigo County School Corporation. Comprehensive special education services are provided by each local school corporation to students with disabilities within approximately 800 square mile area of the District. Selected services are provided to non public schools within these districts. Programs are provided for all students with disabilities as identified in IDEIA 2004 and Indiana's article 7. The Covered Bridge Special Education District is one of the largest special education planning districts in Indiana. The total student enrollment of the four participating corporations is approximately 20,000 with an identified special education enrollment of over 5000. The Covered Bridge Special Education District is governed by a Board of Directors. The members of the Board are the superintendents of each of the four participating school corporations along with two lay members who are appointed by the Vigo County School Corporation Board of School Trustees. The CBSED Board of Directors has the authority to adopt policies which are the assurances of the local corporation to the federal and state government that the requirements of the law will be met.
