About School District: The mission for The Institute for Excellence Charter School is to provide the youth of Winslow Township, in grades kindergarten through twelfth, (we are opening K-2) with a superior education that will prepare them for the most challenging opportunities as they continue their education and life preparation. The rigorous and high standards of the program will emphasize social development while  supporting and rewarding the whole child. The Institute for Excellence Charter School will provide a school environment that encourages academic exploration and that celebrates effort in the pursuit of high achievement. The Institute for Excellence Charter School will provide a framework that helps guide students toward making successful life choices. The framework will include character education components that will help guide the development of leadership skills, social responsibility, and acceptance of others without regard to race, religion or other differences as well as respect for oneself and for others. A key element will include a wellness awareness program that provides a foundation for making good choices – physically, socially and academically for a lifetime of learning.The mission will be fulfilled by encouraging and supporting the attainment of excellence by all members of The Institute for Excellence Charter School community. Academic instruction will support the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and encourage students to extend their learning and explore areas of interest. Students will learn through hands-on-exploration of the curriculum, creating concrete learning experiences from which to grow and add new material. The school will utilize individual and small group instruction to develop a true understanding of course content. The staff of The Institute for Excellence Charter School will support all learning efforts by developing lessons that challenge and engage the students to question and explore the classroom material and the world around them.The mission will be supported through the establishment of a safe, secure, caring and compassionate, student and parent friendly environment that builds character and a strong sense of values conducive to learning and overall enrichment. This mission will be enhanced through the development of a curriculum that focuses on the cultural diversity of students, strong core competencies, creative thinking and communication. This holistic, parent inclusive curriculum will be rounded out by selected community service projects. The focus of the wellness program will be to encourage students to care for themselves and others. They will learn that by taking care of themselves physically they will be able to lead to a more active and involved lifestyle.
