CITIZENS ACADEMY
About School District: Citizens Academy was founded in 1999 by Perry White in Cleveland, Ohio. Since then, it has become one of the top-performing elementary schools in Cleveland (and in the entire state of Ohio!). Due to high demand and community interest, we opened our second campus in 2011, Citizens Academy East. Together, our schools have developed a national reputation for their commitment to academic excellence and responsible citizenship. Our remarkable faculty and staff, board, parents, families, community members, and students work hard every day to make Citizens Academy and Citizens Academy East among the best places in Cleveland to learn and grow as young students and citizens. In 2011, Citizens Academy earned one of the nation’s top honors: it was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education. This prestigious honor awards schools with exemplary student outcomes in both suburban and urban schools. Learn more about our students’ remarkable results here. Our top-performing elementary schools are FREE, public, and open to all students and families. However, we do have limited space in all our grades.
