WASHINGTON PARK COMMUNITY - Ohio School District

About School District: Washington Park Community School is located in Newburgh Heights, OH. We opened our doors in 2001. The founders of our school are Mr. Allen Sowa and Mrs. Helene Jasinski. There are currently 234 students attending Washington Park. Washington Park Community School uses the Direct Instruction & Saxon Math method of teaching for the sole purpose of greater student achievement for all students regardless of their ability. Certified teachers instruct all grades K-8 and are instrumental in the progress of our school. We believe very strongly that all students have the ability to learn, improve, and succeed. Our commitment to our young people is strong and unwavering and we will continue to work together to make sure that no child is left behind. The mission of Washington Park Community School is to produce scholars who are good citizens in school, in the community and the neighborhood in which they live and the world that they share. Washington Park Community School will be a virtue-centered and child-centered school committed to academic excellence, emphasizing attention to being and becoming just, wise, courageous, persevering, responsible, generous and caring citizens. Emphasis will also be placed on the importance of public participation through civic action and community service. These are the values and goals that this community school will instill in the young minds of tomorrow’s leaders.
