Cambridge-Isanti School District #911 is a comprehensive Pre-K through Grade 12 district serving the cities of Isanti and Cambridge and most of Isanti County, Minnesota (population is 30,000). Cambridge and Isanti are located 50 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul on Highway 65, with the scenic Rum River flowing through our communities and district. Approximately 5,000 students Pre-K – 12 are educated with the support of over 742 staff members; 346 full or part-time teachers, and 336 support staff. The Cambridge-Isanti School District provides all children an opportunity to grow in a supportive and caring environment, and over 90% of the districts’ graduates continue their education pursuits beyond high school. Pre-K through Grade 2 students attend classes at one of two primary schools: Isanti Primary School or Cambridge Primary School. Students in Grades 3-5 attend either the Isanti Intermediate School or Cambridge Intermediate School. The Cambridge Middle School and Isanti Middle School house students in Grades 6-8 in their respective communities. And the Cambridge-Isanti High School provides instruction for Grades 9-12. Cambridge-Isanti recognizes the need for choice and opportunities for children and families, therefore along with the traditional school calendar, two year-round programs are offered for children in Grades K-8. Children in Grades K-5 can attend the School For All Seasons (SFAS) located at the Isanti Intermediate School, and children in Grades 6-8 can attend the Minnesota Center (MNC) housed at the Isanti Middle School. District 911 is also a member of the Oak Land Cooperative Center. Oakland is made up of three school districts: Cambridge-Isanti, Princeton and St. Francis. The two major initiatives of Oak Land are career and technical education and alternative education. Career and Technical provides leadership and technical assistance with the districts’ vocational programs and career centers. It also provides assistance with grant management of the Federal Carl Perkins Grant and leadership coordination of the Youth Apprenticeship Program and student follow-up data. Alternative provides a wide range of “comprehensive services” for students who may be experiencing difficulty with the traditional school setting or who may have dropped out of school. The following programs are collaborative efforts with the districts and the Oak Land; Targeted Services, Basic Skill Remediation, Academic Credit Make-up, and Middle and Secondary Level Programming. Beyond a curriculum that focuses on basic or core skills, students are challenged through additional enrichment programs such as: Renaissance Programs, Math League, Speech Team and many others all designed to recognize and celebrate students’ success. Programs such as Targeted Services are offered after school and during the summer to assist students requiring additional assistance in mastering basic skills to meet required standards. Cambridge-Isanti is a member of the MSHSL and participates in the Mississippi 8 Athletic Conference and the State Section 7A. The Bluejacket Activities Department offers 26 athletic programs, along with Knowledge Bowl, Speech, Mock Trial, One-Act Play and other visual arts and music opportunities. EAST CENTRAL MN ED. CABLE COOP.
The East Central Minnesota Educational Cable Cooperative (ECMECC) is a consortium of 13 school districts and a Technical College utilizing two-way interactive television to expand educational opportunities for students and community members in East Central Minnesota. Member school districts are Braham, Cambridge-Isanti, Chisago Lakes, East Central, Hinckley-Finlayson, Milaca, Mora, North Branch, Ogilvie, Pine City, Princeton, Rush City, Pine Technical College, St. Francis, and associate member Elk River. ECMECC was originally formed in 1983 and operated in conjunction with the local cable company. The co-op began sharing courses between six area schools in the fall of 1984. Each school district could produce a "live" video and audio signal from its interactive classroom. The following year a seventh school was added, with three more to follow in the spring of 1994 along with Pine Technical College. In the summer of 1999 the original system was replaced with a fiber optic system which has the possibilities to be connected with other sites and learning institutions throughout the state of Minnesota, making educational opportunities for co-op members almost endless. In January of 2006 a whole new fiber optic based gigabit network was put into place. The ECMECC membership grew to its present membership and a whole new era of programming began to unfold. ECMECC continues to offer two-way interactive classes within our membership schools using Mpeg 2 video. We are connected to the statewide network, offering and receiving courses, and attending virtual field trips using H.323 video. Our high capacity network backbone allows sharing of data applications and allows ECMECC members high bandwidth egress to Internet II applications and the commodity internet.
