Elkhart ISD is a 2A school district with approximately 1,300 students enrolled in Early Childhood through grade twelve. The district encompasses 164.77 square miles and is composed of three campuses: elementary, middle school, and high school. Each campus provides a safe and orderly learning environment, dedicated professional educators, a balance of academic, cultural, and athletic experiences, individualized instruction, and a variety of student activities that contribute to student goal attainment and the development of productive and responsible citizens. The Slocum Independent School District has been meeting the educational needs of the children in Southeast Anderson County since the latter 1800s. Located in a rural area on State Highway 294, Slocum High School and Slocum Elementary School have a combined enrollment of approximately 400 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve. The district is proud to still hold true to being a small, family oriented district. The growth of the district has been filled with many accomplishments and more challenges are to come. The schools are committed to providing all students with the foundation to be lifelong learners and productive citizens. Slocum ISD provides students with the ability to think at a higher level that includes problem solving and the basic knowledge of reading, mathematics, writing, science and social studies. "Striving for Excellence in Education" is the motto of Slocum ISD and the district is committed to meeting the expectations of the motto.
