Founded in 1964, The Panther Valley School District is located in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. The school district serves students who reside in boroughs of Coaldale in Schuykill County, Lansford, Nesquehoning, and Summit Hill in Carbon County. Panther Valley has a rich history, an inspiring team of faculty and staff and a diverse and highly motivated student body. With a challenging academic program and extensive co-curricular offerings that include arts, athletics, service, and leadership, our focus is on fully developing the mind, body and heart of every child from kindergarten through Grade12. We are a dynamic learning community for boys and girls to team and learn together. Active involvement and a genuine desire to reach new heights are guiding principles.
Weatherly Area school District is located in Carbon County in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our district covers approximately 100 square miles and serves approximately 700 students. Our campus consists of a K-8 building, a Middle States Accredited 9-12 High School, and numerous athletic fields. Our buildings and campus are attractive and well maintained thanks to the hard work of our maintenance staff. We also receive tremendous support from the Weatherly PTA, Booster Clubs, and the Weatherly High School Alumni Association.
Youth Forestry Camp #2 is located within Hickory Run State Park in Carbon County. It is an open residential facility for adjudicated delinquent male youth. The youth committed to this program typically have either violated probation or been adjudicated with one or more drug-related, property-related and/or minor violent offenses. Youth Forestry Camp #2 offers youth opportunities for on-site and off-site internships in several areas. Employment opportunities at the facility allow youth to earn money to pay restitution costs. Opportunities to learn vocational trades through work training, classroom instruction and supervised restorative projects in the community are also available. Additionally, youth are offered opportunities to participate in a wide range of supervised projects, such as pheasant raising in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, horticulture, fish stocking in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, community clean-up, community organization assistance and local zoo maintenance. Educational services are provided by the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit. Each youth spends half of his day learning academic subjects such as math, science and English.
