SCHOOL DISTRICT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES -The School Board recognizes its responsibility to set goals for the efficient operation of the school unit. In discharging this responsibility, the Board will strive to ensure that the resources of the unit are directed toward meeting the educational needs of each eligible student. The Board will develop goals based on input solicited from a variety of sources. These goals will be shared with the community, staff, and students. The administration shall develop appropriate objectives designed to achieve the stated priorities.General School Administration – School management, administrative organization, and school building and department administration – including the administrative aspect of special programs and system wide reforms such as school – or site-based management. The Chebeague Island School serves all the students and community of Chebeague Island. The Town of Chebeague Island was established July 1, 2007 and at that time a School Committee was elected. The island has one school house which has classes from pre-k through fifth grade. Both Jennifer Belesca and Ken Pelton were elected to another term on the School Committee starting in July 2012.

The School Board is responsible for presenting an annual budget that serves students, while being mindful of the taxes our community pays. Countless hours are spent by town and school officials to develop a responsible budget. For a few years in a row, essential programs and staff have been reduced. In spite of losses of state and federal funding, this year we made the difficult decision to reverse the trend, maintaining educational programs and teaching positions.Located on the scenic coast of Southern Maine, six miles southwest of Portland, Scarborough Schools provide services to students from kindergarten to adult education practicing its philosophy of offering quality education for all eligible members of the community. Students learn in a positive atmosphere where dedicated educators strive to meet individual student needs throughout the school year and beyond
