The mission of Chateaugay Central School, in partnership with the community, is to provide a safe environment in which each student, including those with disabilities, succeeds in reaching his/her potential. We envision a community of learners who achieve state benchmarks at all levels and have a mastery of the essential knowledge, skills, dispositions outlined in the New York State Learning Standards. We believe all students at C.C.S. have the ability to learn. We, the faculty, staff and administration, have the responsibility to develop each student's potential to learn.

To achieve these desired outcomes, we have a comprehensive Pre-k through grade 12 program of instruction, as well as, high quality co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities.

The Board of Education is committed to maintaining a comprehensive educational program for all of its students from the handicapped to the gifted and talented. The School District has a full range of educational, athletic and co-curricular activities which provide ample opportunities for students to express their interests.

Goal 1:To increase the graduation rate from Salmon River High School to 91% by 2014.Goal 2: To revise the Salmon River Board Policy Handbook to meet current regulations and laws.Goal 3:To create a long range fiscal plan to ensure the stability of theSalmon River Central School District.Goal 4-To plan the next capital project to address health and safety issues for the Salmon River Campus Schools. Goal 5-To establish the Salmon River Hall of Achievement to focus on excellence in academics and distinguished service to the district.The District is pleased to announce that there will be no staffing cuts in the 2012-13 budget. During the last four years, the district has decreased staffing by 36 positions through attrition, and we have continued to maintain programming and student achievement. The school board and I are committed to sound fiscal planning and we continue to support a long range plan for the use of our reserves in an effort to keep the District fiscally stable. Through the dedication and hard work of district staff, Salmon River has continued to build academic rigor into programs, challenging our top students at the high school level with honors and advanced placement courses. Currently, there are 43 students enrolled in advance placement classes such as English, World History, US History, Government, Biology, and Chemistry.

The Saranac Lake High School has been identified as one of the best high schools in both the country and NY state. Out of 22,000 high schools nationally we ranked 1692. In NY we ranked 214 out of 1165. This ranking has earned us US News and World Reports' silver medal.
