The Chambersburg Area School District covers 250 square miles in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, near the center of the Cumberland Valley. More than 61,000 people live in the district, which is composed of the Borough of Chambersburg, Greene, Hamilton, Letterkenny, and Lurgan townships, and most of Guilford Township. The school district's enrollment is nearly 8,800 students, making it the 22nd largest of Pennsylvania's 500 school districts. CASD also ranks 37th out of 500 in geographic size. Fannett-Metal School District is located in northern Franklin County, PA and includes the Fannett and Metal Townships. The District provides an education for roughly 530 students enrolled in Pre-K through 12th grades. The school district covers approximately 210 square miles and is located along Route 75 about two miles north of the Willow Hill Interchange (Exit 189) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The Franklin County Career and Technology Center is the major educational resource for career and technical training for both high school students and adults for the I-81 corridor north from the MD state line to the greater Harrisburg area. Currently, over 700 secondary-aged students and 300 adult day and evening students attend classes at FCCTC in over 30 different concentrations. The day and evening activities occurring at the school combined with the staff’s ability to accommodate flexible delivery schedules truly makes the FCCTC an outstanding educational resource center for south-central Pennsylvania. The Franklin Learning Center is a public school facility, serving students with special needs. The school is jointly owned and operated by the Chambersburg, Greencastle, Fannett-Metal, Tuscarora, and Waynesboro School Districts of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Through the administration of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12, Franklin Learning Center offers classes for special needs students, diagnostic evaluation, psychological evaluation and services, itinerant services, therapy services, homebound instruction, and vocational services. These programs serve students aged 3-21 with a free and appropriate public education according to state and federal regulations.

South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit (SMSTU) provides secure programming for adjudicated delinquent male youth who generally are identified as aggressive youth who have experienced difficulty adjusting to other placements and have extensive placement histories as well as providing services for sexual offenders. SMSTU is located in Franklin County. The facility offers opportunities for youth to participate in a work training program. These programs allow youth to earn money for use in paying restitution, court costs or other financial obligations. Youth participating in the work training program are also afforded the opportunity to donate money to charities to repair damage done to the community in accordance with the Balanced and Restorative Justice Principles. The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit #3 provides the educational services and youth participating in the school program can earn either a high school diploma or GED

The district's 4200+ students attend classes in four elementary schools, a middle school (grades 7 & 8), and one high school (grades 9-12).
