The Learning Center in Kiowa County was established in 1999. Ruth Hiss and Sheryl Christenson desired to help adults who had never finished high school get their high school diplomas.
The pair was so successful in that mission, the KCLC (Kiowa County Learning Center), began to redirect its focus to include more GHS students. The reason for this is so that students can take classes that either are not available at the high school or that are not offered at a convenient time for the student. In fact, GHS students access the Center every hour of the school day.
Currently, the KCLC is serving 15 GHS students and close to the same number of non-traditional students. Since its beginning, the Learning Center has graduated more than 30 students.
