Here at the Marion County School District, we believe that community partnerships are an essential part of a dynamic and sound education. The parents, grandparents and guardians of our students are a vital part of this community. These caretakers entrust us to guard and teach their children while they are away from home, and we take a solemn pledge to do so to the best of our ability. They are the ones who have begun the process of teaching and training young minds, of caring and concern for the children’s well-being, and of fostering a dream for the future to be realized.
The Academy for Careers and Technology opened its doors to the students of Marion County for the first time in the fall of 1968. The school has an outstanding history of serving the needs of area students with relevant technical instruction and career-building educational opportunities. The school is unique among Marion County schools in the fact that facilities, instructors, tools and equipment have been brought together in one place to realistically represent careers in which students can choose to gain skill training. The Mission of the Academy for Careers and Technology is to strengthen the community by preparing students for employment in a changing global workforce. The Vision of the Academy for Careers and Technology is for every student who successfully completes a program of study to be gainfully employed and/or enrolled in a post-secondary educational program.
