The Bradford Area School District is a mid sized, rural and suburban public school district located in north central Pennsylvania. The district encompasses approximately 250 square miles. It serves the City of Bradford, Borough of Lewis Run, Bradford Township, Corydon Township, Foster Township and Lafayette Township in McKean County, Pennsylvania. According to 2000 federal census data it serves a resident population of 21,772. The Bradford Area School District provides Pre-K to 12 educational services to 2,500 pupils through the employment of 200 teachers, 124 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 18 administrators. Intermediate Unit Nine is the Intermediate Unit in Pennsylvania which replaced the Offices of Education of Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter Counties. It serves 15,761 public school students in fourteen school districts and 1,673 non-public school students in nineteen schools. Intermediate Unit Nine covers an area of 3,300 square miles with a population of 105,102.
