The mission of the Athens City School System, in partnership with the community, is to provide opportunities for all students to develop intellectually, socially, physically and morally in order to live as a contributing member of an ever changing, multi-cultural society.

Etowah City School is located in a small town in the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest. The school was built in 1973 and was completely renovated in 1999. Etowah City is a single school system, one of the few in the state of Tennessee. With Strong leadership, the efforts of faculty and staff, and support from state and local government, the school is an integral part of the community. Mission Statement: Etowah City School is committed to prepare its students for their next level of Instruction. Vision: The vision of Etowah City School is to become a world-class school that develops citizens who are values-oriented, career-directed, competent communicators, skillful problem solvers, and critical thinkers. The school must have outstanding leaders who provide a broad range of positive experiences in a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
