NORTH MERCER CO. R-III
Location: US Highway 65; 80 miles south of Des Moines, Iowa, 5 miles south of the Iowa line, and 8 miles north of Princeton, Missouri. Economics: agricultural based economy; industries include Premium Standard Farms and the Union Pacific Railroad. Student Population: around 216 students in Pre-school through 12th grade. All students attend school in the same building. Teaching Staff: 25 teachers and two administrators. The student/teacher ratio is 12.5 students per teacher. Special Services: include one Title I teacher, two Special Education teachers, one Media Specialist, one Speech Therapist, and an At-Risk Program Course Offerrings: 51.5 credits are available per year on the class schedule including 42 hours of college credit through dual enrollment. Student Activities: include softball, basketball, track, drama, academic teams, band, yearbook, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Art Club, Student Council, Cheerleading, Science Club, and Dance.
