Colorado ISD is in Colorado City, Texas centrally located seventy miles from Midland and Abilene on Interstate 20. It is a 2A UIL District that serves approximately 1100 students with an employee base of 200. The actual size of the district is 435 square miles and it shares Mitchell County with two other school districts. There are currently five campuses that the district is composed of ranging from elementary to alternative. The diverse student population enjoys success in academics as well as many other activities ranging from playoff teams in 2011-12 for volleyball, football, basketball, and golf, to an award winning marching band that includes its own jazz section.
