The mission of Evergreen Community Charter School is to prepare young people for meaningful life experiences with respect to career decisions, interpersonal relations, and community involvement. Starting in September 1996, Evergreen opened its doors to 16 students in grades 6, 7, and 8 from school districts across Monroe County , offering an education based in excellence and individual attention. Each year a grade was added to accommodate that original 8th grade class, culminating with the first graduating class in 2001. Evergreen became a Pennsylvania Charter School in September os 2006. The current enrollment in Evergreen Community Charter School is 80 students in grades 6 through 12. Evergreen has a proven track record of consistently placing graduates in their first choice colleges or post secondary training.
As an extension of Monroe County's four school districts, MCTI provides tuition-free career and technical education for secondary students of Monroe County. Each school day, students attend a half-day at MCTI and a half-day at their high school. MCTI offers its students opportunities to learn specific career skills and training which prepares them for entrance into the workforce or post-secondary education.
The Pleasant Valley School District is located in northeastern Pennsylvania, in Monroe County, and encompasses approximately 120 square miles. This dynamic community sits on the southern fringe of the greater Pocono Mountain recreation area. District-wide student enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year is nearly 5,500 students. Pocono Mountain Charter School (PMCS) is committed to providing area students access to a high quality education. Through our child-centered and holistic approach to education, we reach the whole student. Our efforts are focused on meeting the needs of individual students through a community-oriented learning environment in which students are taught to overcome obstacles and accomplish goals. Our approach works: Students have substantially increased their academic performance after enrolling in PMCS. The charter school boasts a 100% graduation rate, as well as a near 100% post-secondary placement rate. Pocono Mountain School District is one of the fastest growing, diverse school districts in Pennsylvania. It is located in Northeastern PA within the heart of the Pocono resort and recreation area. The district spans 305 square miles and serves a population of approximately 55,000 within seven municipalities and one borough in Monroe County including the Borough of Mount Pocono, and the Townships of Barrett, Coolbaugh, Jackson, Paradise, Pocono, Tobyhanna and Tunkhannock. The Stroudsburg Area School District is located in the Pocono Mountains area of northeastern Pennsylvania. The Borough of Stroudsburg, which is also home of the county seat for Monroe County, is a small town surrounded by many rural communities. Students living in the Borough of Stroudsburg, the Borough of Delaware Water Gap, the Township of Hamilton or the Township of Stroud attend school in the Stroudsburg Area School District. The total district population is currently at approximately 6000 students. 900+ administrative, professional and support staff provide the educational and support services to ensure a positive and comfortable environment for learning.
