The Carsonville-Port Sanilac School District includes the agricultural community of Carsonville, the resort village of Port Sanilac, 112 square miles of farmland located within six Sanilac County Townships, and ten miles of residential frontage on Lake Huron. Although the district includes excellent recreational and shopping facilities, residents are only 45 minutes from Port Huron and Sarnia (Ontario), 60 minutes from Saginaw, and 90 minutes from suburban Detroit.The current high school, which houses grades 7-12, was first occupied in October 1975. The 65,000 square foot structure is one of the better equipped smaller high schools in the Michigan "Thumb" area. The elementary building was constructed in the 1950's and 1960's, with a new addition, library-I.M.C., and many renovations completed in 1991. In 2001, a early education wing was added to the elementary building and major facility improvements including modern technology infrastructure were made in both buildings
Two Cros-Lex schools were honored as Reward Schools for either high student achievement or making tremendous progress in student achievement, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) announced August 2.Reward Schools is one of three new school designations that came as the result of Michigan receiving flexibility to the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act from the U.S. Department of Education. Croswell-Lexington High School and Meyer Elementary School in Lexington were the only two schools in Sanilac County honored as Reward Schools. Reward Schools include the top five percent of schools on the annual Top-to-Bottom ranking of all Michigan schools, and the top five percent of schools making the greatest academic progress over the previous four years. With a 98% ranking, Cros-Lex's Meyer Elementary is the highest ranked school in the Blue Water Area and Michigan's Thumb.
