"Bowlegs is the school that oil built. Before this liquid wealth gushed from the sandy hills of Seminole County there were only two-room rural schools sprinkled at convenient intervals over the region. But oil changed all that. There is today the largest rural school in the state and perhaps the largest school of its kind in existence located in this once barren area. Bowlegs is the school that courage built. It took the iron nerve of a farseeing educator to carve such a monument to education from the material available in a new and untamed oil field. It required the combined courage of a farseeing Board of Education to support him in his Herculean task. And it required the solid supporting courage of every citizen to make the undertaking possible. Bowlegs school is a story of faith and hard work. It took these to create within a short pan of ten years a school that won a place in the eyes of a nation. It took these to weather those years of bleak depression and despair and emerge a school that still stands forth a national figure. Today there is the largest known Union Graded School, employing thirty teachers, and having an enrollment of 1200 students. There is a school accredited for 26 units of scholastic work and offering all the recognized extra-curricular activities. There are athletic teams, musical organizations, and scholastic clubs. This is the school that oil, courage and work built. And hereby lies the story of Bowlegs U. G. 5." This was the beginnings of what is today Bowlegs Public Schools Independent District 3 of Seminole County. Much credit must be given to the faculty, staff, students and community for making Bowlegs Schools what it is today.

New Lima Public School is accredited with NO DEFICIENCIES, putting the district in the top 372 schools in the state considered to be in compliance with the rules of the SDE. For athletic purposes New Lima, currently in class A, is ranked 363 with an ADM of 84.17 (top 4 grades only). There are 117 schools with less students in the top 4 grades. New Lima School consistently performs in the top percentage of schools in the state in academics. Academics to be considered are things such as state testing, interscholastic meets, quiz bowl contests, and ACT scores. Research will prove that New Lima is NOT near the bottom of any of those lists. We are very proud of our students and would welcome anyone who would like to visit our campus to view these accomplishments. We believe that the size of New Lima School is one of the best in student teacher ratio. We have 26 certified teachers with approximately 300 students; therefore most classes have less than 15 students per teacher. We also believe that students learn better with this type of student teacher ratio.

The Seminole Public School District, located in Seminole, OK, is approximately 65 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. It is 10 miles south of I-40 in east central Oklahoma. The major employers of the city are Wrangler and Sigma, which are clothing and meat processing industries. Seminole Public Schools is fortunate to have a fine school board and staff that are dedicated to providing the best possible education for our students. They believe that all students should have equal opportunity to master the skills they need to be successful as adults. It is the intent of this district to strive for excellence in assessing students’ needs and utilizing methods to help them become knowledgeable, productive, and responsible world citizens.
The Strother School District is named after O.D. Strother, a Buster Brown travelling shoe salesman who became an Oklahoma oilman. After viewing a geological map that convinced him there were oil reserves in the area that would become Seminole, Strother began purchasing individual allotments from members of the Seminole tribe. He purchased over 4,000 acres of land and founded the Blue Ribbon Oil and Development Company, drilling several wells that began producing oil shortly after his death in 1926 and eventually produced over 17 million barrels of oil. The land where Strother High School is located was donated by O.D. Strother. Today the Strother School district has 339 pre kindergarten through high school students enrolled. It is a great learning community with teachers, staff and administrators who really care about students; really work with parents and the community; and together we strive to see each and every student attain the maximum level of achievement in each and every subject and activity. It is a great Professional Learning Community with great students and a great community. We believe that every student has leadership within them, and daily we work together to provide opportunities for individual and collective student-leadership potential to come to the forefront.
