Match Education is a national education nonprofit, based in Boston. We undertake three main bodies of work, day-to-day:
Match Schools. We operate a growing portfolio of high-performing and innovative urban charter schools. Our schools are widely recognized for their success in preparing low-income students for success in four-year colleges.
Match Teachers. We train teachers for urban classrooms and operate a fully sanctioned graduate school of education. We seek to train the best rookie teachers in the country and, over time, to develop new insight into the nature of effective teaching and teacher training.
Match Export. We have begun in earnest to consult with districts, charter networks, institutions of higher education, and policy makers. We work with them when they ask us for our advice or when they want us to build things for them. This work is a way for us to matter broadly.
The mission of the Neighborhood House Charter School is 1) to offer a quality education to a diverse community of Boston children through a neighborhood-based school that integrates education with social services and health care programs and 2) to develop and share with other schools innovative practices that improve public education for all students.
The school's motto, "Succeed Anywhere," describes our educational vision that every student at our school will graduate with the necessary knowledge and skills to attend a high quality high school, whether public or private, focused on college preparation, the technical trades or the creative arts. To achieve this goal, we offer individualized learning programs for each student — including students for whom special effort is needed to overcome physical, social, emotional or learning challenges. The school is committed to developing the interests and talents of all of its students.
Phoenix Charter Academy's mission is to close the achievement gap that exists between academically underperforming adolescents who are in Chelsea and surrounding cities' district schools and their academically successful peers. Partnering rigorous academic work with relentless support for 14-22 year-old students, Phoenix Charter Academy provides students with the tools necessary to achieve high school graduation and college success.
Phoenix Charter Academy was named after the mythological bird, the PHOENIX, a creature of great strength and self-healing power. At PCA, we value this ability. Like the Phoenix, many of our students have experienced life's thoughest obstacles and yet still have the innate ability and strength to re-evaluate their lives and create a new plan for success. We believe in the re-evaluate their lives and regain control of their academic futures and recast themselves as strong, independent, and self-sufficient adults.
PCA was founded on the premise all students can succeed, regardless of their past academic history, personal mistakes or family challenges. We believe that when high expectations for academic success are partnered with a strong and structured support system, students who were previously not achieving can exceed on the MCAS, graduate from high school and continue to college.
The mission of Smith Leadership Academy Charter Public School is to develop high-achieving students of good character who use problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills to inspire others and to catalyze educational, economic and political advancement within their communities and the broader nation.
The Academy's educators and administrators, with the support of volunteers, help cultivate impeccable student character by modeling and demonstrating seven core values - thought leadership, personal excellence, intellectual curiosity, integrity, respect, compassion and community citizenship. These core values foster a cohesive and collective sense of purpose and a safe, orderly environment where learning and character development take precedence.
