JOHN HANCOCK CHARTER SCHOOL
John Hancock Charter School (JHCS) was founded in 2000 by a group of dedicated parents and administrators who saw a real need and demand for a K-8 charter school in Utah County. JHCS is a public charter school, chartered by the Utah State Office of Education. We use the “Core Knowledge Sequence” curriculum developed by E.D. Hirsch Jr. The basic philosophy of Core Knowledge is that learning builds on learning and children gain new knowledge only by building on what they already know. It is essential to begin building solid foundations of knowledge in the early years, when children are most receptive. Research has shown, for the vast majority of children, academic deficiencies from the first six grades permanently impair the success of later learning. The mission of JHCS is to provide that core foundation and make our students successful learners for life.
